Shahtoosh shawl trader convicted

A local court in Delhi was convicted a trader from Srinagar for illegally keeping 24 shahtoosh shawls with him on March 2000. During the raid enforcement officials from Delhi Wildlife Department had seized 49 shawls in which 24 shawls turns out to be made of under fleece of Tibetan antelope during forensic analysis. Court found that accused is held guilty and is convicted for the offence u/s 44/49 and 49B(1) of Wildlife Protection Act.

Wildlife traffickers attacked forest officers in Kerala

Two forest officials were injured and the vehicle used by them were damaged in the attack of wildlife traffickers when officials were trying to arrest illegal wildlife traders with a leopard skin in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala on 4 June 2014.

Three years imprisonment for leopard skin traders

Chief Judicial Magistrate of Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand had found guilty on two persons whom were arrested by police with a leopard skin on January 2011 and sentenced them to three years rigorous imprisonment and Rs. 20,000 fine each.

Another Veerappan rises in Karnataka

Forest officials from the M.M. Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, Karnataka have launched a manhunt, which is being described as the biggest since the death of forest brigand Veerappan in 2004. For the last one week, nearly 50 forest officials, including men from the Special Tiger Protection Force (STPF), are hunting for a poacher, Sharavana, who has been on the prowl in the forests of M.M. Hills and neighbouring Tamil Nadu.

Tiger killers arrested in Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh forest officials on 2 June 2014 arrested three poachers and recovered the radio collar that was ripped off a tigress after electrocuting it to death outside Bandhavgarh National Park (BNP) in Umaria district on May 26.

Nine otter skins seized in Himachal Pradesh

A joint team of Himachal Pradesh police and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau had seized 9 otter skins and arrested a member of an organized poaching group in Solan district on 31 May 2014.
