A person who was hunted a hare with the help of dog in August 2014 at Balaghat North forest division, Madhya Pradesh was convicted by court. Accused was sentenced to three years rigorous imprisonment and ₹10,000 fine.

Haryana: Appeal filed by convicts allowed in black buck poaching case
Appeal filed by six convicts against the verdict of Special Environment Court in connection with killing of black buck and hares was allowed by Sessions court, Faridabad. The case was related to former Indian cricket captain (case against him was abated by lower court during the trial stage) and reported from Jhajjar district of Haryana on June 2005.

Four Chinkaras and 3 rabbits killed in Barmer, Rajasthan
Rajasthan forest officials seized bodies of four chinkaras (Indian gazelle), 20 kg meat, severed heads, 16 legs and three bodies of rabbits and arrested four persons on 23 May 2012 in Barmer district. 21 persons arrested for poaching black-naped hares
Tamil Nadu forest department rescued 26 live hares and arrested 21 persons from three different districts. Unfortunately only 10 were survived the rest were died due to stress and shock.
