Leopard skins seizure: Appeal filed by convict rejected

An appeal filed by the convict against the sentencing of three years imprisonment and ₹10,000 fine was rejected by Sessions Court in Panchkula, Haryana. The case was pertains to the seizure of 4 leopard skins by CBI in June 2016.

Haryana: Appeal filed by convicts allowed in black buck poaching case

Appeal filed by six convicts against the verdict of Special Environment Court in connection with killing of black buck and hares was allowed by Sessions court, Faridabad. The case was related to former Indian cricket captain (case against him was abated by lower court during the trial stage) and reported from Jhajjar district of Haryana on June 2005.

Tiger poacher convicted, sentenced to three-year jail

Notorious tiger poacher Bhima was convicted and awarded three-year imprisonment in a 2012 case by an environment court in Faridabad in neighbouring Haryana, officials said on Tuesday. The special environment court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972 in a case of seizure of tiger skin, tiger bones, ivory, and other wildlife contraband from him on August 1, 2012.

Sessions court ordered retrial of wildlife case

In July 2014 Special Environment Court in Kurukshetra had convicted three persons for five years imprisonment for killing a black buck at Fatehbad district in January 2012. On the basis of appeal filed by the convicts, Sessions court was set aside the lower court judgment and had ordered the retrial of the case citing reason as no proper procedure were followed during the trial.

Conviction against wildlife criminals upheld in Haryana

In June 2010 forest officials of Haryana were arrested 3 people with 13 yellow monitor lizards in Kaithal district. Trial court had convicted the accused and sentenced them to rigorous imprisonment for a period of three years and fine of ₹10,000 each. The appeal filed by convicts were now rejected by Additional Sessions Judge, Kurukshetra and held that the prosecution has been duly proved the fact that appellants-accused were found in possession of 13 yellow monitor lizards and thereby committed offence under Section 39(a) of Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972, punishable under Section 51 of the Act.

Conviction upheld in leopard skins seizure case

Two convicts, one man and a woman whom were filed an appeal against their conviction were rejected by Additional Sessions Judge - Kurukshetra and upheld the sentences pronounced by Special Environment Court to undergo rigorous imprisonment of five years for the offence defined under Section 39 and 49(b) of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 and punishable under Section 51 of the said Act and to pay fine of 20,000/- each. Both convicts were arrested by Wildlife Inspector - Pinjore with 4 leopard skins in January 2011.

Rajasthan police arrested a poacher from Haryana

A member of an organized poaching gang and a repeat offender in wildlife crime who was earlier associated with Sansar Chand was arrested by Rajasthan police from Hisar district of Haryana in connection with seizure of two leopard skins at Udaipur district on 5 May 2015.

Pangolin scales and leopard skins seized in Dehradun

Uttarakhand police officials arrested three persons including a repeat offender and member of an organized poaching group from Haryana with 6.5 kg of pangolin scales and two leopard skins at Dehradun, Uttarakhand on 1st March 2015.

Black buck poachers sentenced to three years imprisonment

In a black buck poaching case reported on June 2005 at Jhajjar district of Haryana in which Late Mr. Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was also an accused, the special environment court in Faridabad found guilty in remaining six accused and sentenced them to three years imprisonment and Rs. 10,000 fine each.

5 years imprisonment for 3 poachers in Haryana

Special Environment Court in Kurukshetra, Haryana was convicted three persons and sentenced them to 5 years imprisonment and Rs. 20,000 fine each for hunting wild animals in Kalesar National Park on January 2008.

Illegal wildlife trader held in Haryana

Tiger poachers convicted in Uttarakhand

Three professional tiger poachers from Haryana whom were an accused in a tiger poaching case of Corbett tiger reserve in May 2012 were found guilty by trial court and sentenced them to three years imprisonment. Update on 1st Week November 2013: These tiger poachers were not convicted for killing the tiger as believed earlier, they were punished only for the illegal possession of traps and spears.

Environment court in Kurukshetra, Haryana had convicted a person and sentenced him to two years imprisonment and Rs. 15,500 fine for destroying nests by cutting trees in Yamunanagar district on March 2007.

Pangolin scales seized in Siliguri, West Bengal

West Bengal forest officials seized nearly 70 kg of pangolin scales brought from Kalka, Haryana in Siliguri, Darjeeling district on 31 July 2013. 7 people were arrested including a member of organised poaching group based in Haryana.
