Four persons convicted for poaching in Punjab

Four persons found to be engaged in hunting in forest areas under PS Sadar, Roopnagar in January 2014 were confessed their crime and court had convicted the accused. The court is of the considered view that it is fit case where the benefit of probation should be granted to the convicts. Thus, all the convicts are ordered to be released on probation on their furnishing personal probation bonds in the sum of Rs.25,000/- each, thereby undertaking to keep peace and to be of good behaviour for a period of Six months, to appear and receive sentence as and when called during this period. The convicts were further burdened with Rs.1000/- each as costs of litigation.

7 leopard skins seized in Punjab

Police and wildlife officials seized around seven leopard skins in Hoshiarpur district of Punjab on 12 February 2015.

Update:

In a joint operation conducted by the Officers of Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) and Punjab Police, 11 Leopard skins, 95 kgs of Leopard bones, 9 Otter skins and a piece of tiger fat; were seized at Mukerian, Punjab.

Poachers arrested with leopard skins convicted in Punjab

A court in Pathankot, Punjab had convicted two persons from Himachal Pradesh and sentenced them to three years imprisonment and Rs. 10,000 fine each in connection with seizure of two leopard skins by police on November last year.
