Elephant calves smuggling racket busted

Two elephant calves captured from wild and two kumki elephants were seized and four poachers arrested at Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh on 6 February 2015.

Suspected elephant poisoning in Assam-Arunachal border

Two wild elephants were found dead near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border in Lakhimpur district, Assam on 6 October 2012. Poachers kill tigress at Itanagar Zoo

Poachers killed a tigress at Itanagar zoo in Arunachal Pradesh on the night of 24 September 2012. They cut the tigress into pieces, but failed to take her away. Years back such a similar incident reported from Hyderabad zoo, that time tigress was killed and poachers skinned the animal on 6 October 2000.

Poachers from Myanmar pose hurdle to tiger census

Poachers from Myanmar have posed a challenge to the tiger census in Namdapha in Arunachal Pradesh, last week miscreants removed as many as eight cameras from different locations and in two instances since the tiger census had begun, miscreants also fired upon census teams.

Carcasses of barking deer, flying squirrel seized in Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh Forest officials in Lower Subansiri district have seized carcasses of two barking deers, two flying squirrels, one khaleej pheasant and eight mountain imperial pigeons from four vehicles on 20th December.
