Tiger cub found dead in Sunderbans, West Bengal

Body parts of a five year old male tiger was found on 5 June 2012 near a water hole in Kathotia village in Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh. Animal was electrocuted by poachers and later cut into two pieces. 8 people were detained by forest officials in connection with this poaching. This is the second time in the last two weeks that a body of the tiger was cut into pieces, the first case was reported from Chandrapur, Maharashtra on 18 May 2012.

Four wild tigers died in last 24 hours

Four wild tiger deaths reported in the last 24 hours. In the first case a tiger was found dead in Bandipur tiger reserve, Karnataka yesterday. In Maharashtra, a tiger cub rescued yesterday from near Pench tiger reserve died today. In another case of Uttarakhand, an injured tiger rescued from Ramnagar division on last week was died during treatment at Nainital zoo today. In the fourth case, an adult male tiger was found dead with injuries in Bandhavgarh tiger reserve, Madhya Pradesh in the evening.

Forest officials arrested the mastermind of killing two tigers in Haripur Range, Plibhit district on last week . Forest officials say the group of five men who graze their cattle in the forest had planned the killing of tigers after their animals were killed by the big cats.
