Maoists attack forest offices in Kerala

Suspected maoists (left wing extremists) attacked the forest offices at Silent Valley National Park in Palakkad and Vellamunda in Wayanad district of Kerala on 22 December 2014 morning. The Maoists set on fire a jeep parked in front of the Silent Valley Range office and destroyed four computers, files among other things.

Government orders DFO’s retirement a year in advance

Himachal Pradesh government ordered the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) concerned to retire with immediate effect as he reportedly had failed in taking timely cognisance of large-scale illicit tree felling in the Khokra forest area of Nalagarh Forest Division.
