Two persons convicted for shot dead an elephant in Kerala

A court in Malappuram district of Kerala have convicted two persons for shot dead a wild female elephant using country made gun near their farmhouse in Nilambur North forest division of Kerala in October 2007. Out of five accused, two were sentenced to three years rigorous imprisonment and Rs. 10,000 fine each. One accused is found not guilty and case against two were stands abated.

Elephant died after consuming plastic waste

A 40-year-old female elephant had died after consuming plastic waste dumped by Sabarimala pilgrims in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala. Veterinary surgeon who conducted the autopsy, said the animal had consumed 2 kg of food packaging waste, including plastic bags, biscuit covers and aluminum foils.

Elephants with bullet injuries found in West Bengal
