Suspected lion cub smuggling in Gujarat

Lions, leopard killed in Train and Road accidents

Two lionesses, one of them pregnant with three fetuses were killed in train accident at Amreli district of Gujarat on 22 January 2014. In an another case a leopard was killed in road accident on NH-37, Jorhat district of Assam.

Lioness killed in Gir

The body of a lioness was found in the well of a farm with injury marks near Gir, suspected that animal's neck was caught in a trap laid by the farm owner to stop wild animals from entering his field.

Deadly virus threatening Gir lions

A deadly virus that wiped out a significant number of wild lions in the African Serengeti in mid 1990s is now threatening Gir —home to India's only population of lions.
