Accused in sea cucumber case convicted

The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West sentenced a man to simple imprisonment of eight months with a fine of Rs 25,000 for transporting 991 kgs of Sea Cucumber (Holothurians) in an Air India flight from Kolkata to Imphal on September last year.

Villagers killed a leopard in Jaipur

Villagers in Viratnagar area of Jaipur district in Rajasthan were beaten to death a leopard when animal attacked three persons on 23 April 2015.

Leopard skin and bones seized near Bhutan border

West Bengal forest department officials nabbed two Bhutanese nationals on charge of wildlife smuggling and confiscated an 8ft long leopard skin and 150 bones of the endangered species along with a skull of an unidentified animal from their vehicle on 19 April 2015 near Bhutan border.

Poachers caught with traps convicted in Uttarakhand

The court of Mr Om Kumar, Civil Judge Senior Division - Ramnagar had found guilty in four persons whom were caught with 4 leg-hold steel traps and other poaching tools at Jhirna range of Corbett tiger reserve in May 2014. The convicted include two persons from organized poaching group based in Haryana/ Punjab. Court had sentenced all of them to three years imprisonment and Rs. 10,000 fine each.

Six tiger poachers sentenced to three years imprisonment

Six tiger poachers were convicted by a local court in Katni, Madhya Pradesh and sentenced them to three years imprisonment and Rs. 10,000 fine each for killing a tiger in Katni forest division, near Bandhavgarh tiger reserve on January 2002.

Three snow leopard skins seized in Kashmir

Leopard poachers sentenced to three years imprisonment

In two different cases, courts in Dehradun and Rishikesh were convicted four poachers to three years imprisonment and Rs. 10,000 fine each on this month. First case was registered in January 2005 in which a leopard was shot dead in Rajaji National Park and in second incident a leopard skin was seized from two persons on May 2008 at Rishikesh.
