Sansar Chand's wife Rani convicted in leopard skin case

Notorious illegal wildlife trader Sansar Chand's wife Rani was convicted today (28 September 2012) in a leopard skin case registered in 2004. CJM-Court in Pauri sentenced all the accused including Rani to maximum imprisonment given under Wildlife Protection Act. The case dates back to April 2004 when three people were arrested with 2 leopard skins, skeletons, 2 jakal skins and 1 iron trap at Pauri district, Uttarakhand. The arrested people were disclosed that they were killed the animals as per the instructions of Rani.

FD Investigation: Tigers caught in traps for herbivores

After months of investigation Maharashtra forest department concluded that on 26 April 2012 at Palasgaon range the tigers were accidentally caught in the steel jaw traps installed by local poachers for herbivores. 7 Sudanese students apprehended with sandalwood logs

Seven Sudanese nationals studying in different colleges in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu were apprehended with sandalwood logs by customs officials at Coimbatore Airport on 25 September 2012, just minutes before they were about to board a Sharjah bound flight. Each student was hiding about 7kgs of sandalwood in their baggage while passing through emigration checks.
